Although a handy tool, using a calculator still feels a bit restrictive, especially on a phone with small keypads. And if you make a mistake it’s not easy to go back and fix it. Enter MyScript Calculator, a unique calculator App. It allows you to perform mathematical operations using your handwriting as input and simultaneously displays what you are inputting so that you can be sure the answer is correct.
Content and Features
MyScript has a straightforward interface. As you write down the equation, MyScript converts your handwriting into digital text. You can not only add, subtract, multiply and divide but also solve trigonometric functions and use constants. Myscript Calculator supports surprisingly complex and long expressions, and allows you to add stuff into the expression without any difficulty. Once you get the hang of it, you will be surprised of how well the calculator picks up your handwriting. MyScript Calculator also allows you to add unknowns into an equation by drawing a question mark. You can write 4 x ? = 12 and MyScript will evaluate the answer and display 3 in place of the question mark, for example.
In the settings, you will find features, such as Automatic Calculation, Palm rejection and Left-handed. Automatic Calculation displays the result in real-time. You can turn this off if you have a difficult and long expression. Palm rejection ignores the marks made by the palm of the hand and is useful for those who like to rest their hands on their tablets. Lastly, Left-handed feature improves handwriting recognition for left handed users.
Design and Appearance
MyScript Calculator has a minimalist look and feel. You are presented with a graph-style screen to write on and the numbers appear on the dotted line. The display is not crowded and there is ample space to write down your mathematical problems. On the top-right you will find the option to undo and redo, trash can and menu. The trash can allows you to clear the screen. On the top-left is the option to change between DEG and RAD. However, once you fill up the screen, it becomes difficult to add anything into the expression. An option to resize the expression would be very useful.
* Excellent Handwriting Recognition
* Instant solving of the problem
* Ability to do complex expression
* Support for left-handed users
The Not So Good:
* No resize option
MyScript Calculator allows you to perform quick calculations and find the solution to complex problems in the blink of an eye. No longer do you need to tap on numbers and operators. Just write and get the answer. MyScript Calculator is available as a free download on the App Store for both iPhone and iPad from here and for Android devices on the Play Store from here.
