29 Car Makers Partner With Apple For CarPlay
With nine new car makers, Apple now has 29 CarPlay partners. These car makers have committed to include CarPlay integration in their future vehicles. CarPlay was officially introduced in March and since then has been in news for integration with various applications and partnering with multiple car manufacturers.
Car makers who will be shipping their vehicles with CarPlay integration this year are Hyundai, Ferrari, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, and Honda. In addition to manufacturers, the car audio companies, Pioneer and Alpine, have also partnered with Apple.
CarPlay is supported by iPhone 5S/5C/5 running iOS 7.1 or later, and it integrates with Apps like Phone, Messages, Maps, and Music for built-in infotainment displays and car audio systems. The functionality of these Apps can be controlled by voice commands or in-car controls or by the dashboard display.
In 2015, Audi has committed to adding CarPlay in all their cars.
