During the “Uncarrier 5.0” event at Seattle’s Paramount Theater, T-Mobile CEO John Legere announced its latest move to convince potential customers of their network. T-Mobile is launching a new program which they call “Test Drive”. Under this program T-Mobile has partnered with Apple to rent potential customers a brand-new iPhone 5S to test the service provider’s network for one whole week.
With this move T-Mobile plans to lure competitor’s subscribers. The program starts on June 23rd and an easy online registration is available for interested subscribers. Within a few days iPhone 5S is sent to the user with a week’s worth of unlimited data/text/web service. After one week of testing if a user is still unconvinced she can drop the phone off at a T-Mobile store.
To sign up a user needs a valid credit card and T-Mobile puts a $699.99 hold on your credit card for the iPhone 5S. Upon return, if there is any physical damage T-Mobile will charge $100, otherwise the money is fully refunded. Of course, a runaway will cost the whole amount.
With this move T-Mobile plans to transform the way Americans choose their service provider.
