The official Southwest Airlines App for iOS has just been updated, adding support for international travel and flights. In a few weeks from now, Southwest Airlines will be expanding its flights to Mexico and the Caribbean, replacing the AirTran AirWays it acquired back in 2011.
¡Vámonos de Viaje! We’re charting new territory! On July 1st, Southwest begins operating flights to Mexico and the Caribbean.
To reflect this change in the U.S. Airline the App has been updated to allow users to check in to international flights, as well as check the status of these flights and receive notifications regarding them. However, to book international flights, manage international trips, or edit passport information digitally, you will need to use their website.
The update also has the ability to add boarding times to the digital boarding pass in the App, allowing you to go through security, and onto your plane via your mobile phone.
