Just days after Apple announced their plan during the WWDC to launch HealthKit, Apple’s ad Strength airs for the first time during the Stanley Cup Finals. The ad shows how the iPhone can help with a user’s health and fitness regimen. It also demonstrates how it can be used to interface with other wearable technology, health and fitness monitoring devices, and Apps.
Some of the devices and Apps featured, mostly in cameo in Strength, include the Wahoo Bike Sensor, Adidas miCoach Smart Ball, Misfit Shine Activity tracker, Argus, Nike+ Running App, and Weight lifting App Stronglifts. The ad came as part of Apple’s “You’re more powerful than you think” campaign. It showed the different third party gadgets and Apps used by different people doing various activities but all interfacing with iPhone 5S. My guess is all the information would then be centralized using HealthKit, but that was not clear in the video. Strength debuted just hours after news came out that Apple will be moving advertising in-house and would be less reliant on long time advertising partner TBWA.
