According to Korea’s ETNews, Apple is going to begin production of its next generation iPad Air this month. It will start with display components going into bulk production by the middle of this month, followed by processor, camera sensors and other components going into production next month.
The new iPad Air will be much similar to current iPad Air with the same display resolution, lightweight and 9.7-inch display resolution. It will have an upgraded A8 processor which will improve performance and battery life. Besides an advanced processor, there will be a few hardware upgrades. The rear-camera is expected to upgrade from a 5 megapixel to an 8 megapixel sensor, which also includes a large sensor for improved low-light performance. The front camera would be 1.5 megapixels compared to the current 1.2 megapixels. FaceTime calls and Photo Booth selfies are also expected to see significant improvements. It is also expected that the new iPad Air will have fingerprint scanner Touch ID in the home button. The nextgeneration iPad Air is expected to hit the markets by September this year. Apple’s iPad mini is also expected to get updated by the same time.
