Analysts Estimate Record Quarter With 39 Million Handsets Sold
Though there are still 3 weeks to go before Apple’s 3rd fiscal quarter is over, analysts are already making projected estimates of how many iPhones Apple sold from March till June.
The latest results from the AlphaWise Smartphone Tracker survey were released, based on which Morgan Stanley anticipates a record 3rd Quarter, according to an AppleInsider report.
An analyst, Katy Huberty also informed investors that in the quarter ending June 28th, there is a collective demand of over 39 Million iPhone handsets. In the same quarter last year, and 2012, Apple sold 31.2 and 26 Million iPhones respectively.
AppleInsider also claims that AlphaWise surveys have been quite accurate and have also beaten the Wall Street consensus estimates 4 out of 5 times. For this Quarter, the Wall Street consensus estimates 35 Million iPhones sold; however, Huberty believes that is not the case and states that “Similar to the March quarter, we believe promotions from Apple, retailers and carriers are driving strong demand.”
In the previous quarter, Apple sold 43.7 Million handsets, compared to 37.4 Million in the same quest term the year before, amounting to a 16% increase.
