New Leaked Images of iPhone 6 Manufacturing Mold Hints 4.7-Inch Display
Though the last image leak of iPhone 6 manufacturing mold gave a clarity for a larger size phone, the dimensions could not be figured out. The latest manufacturing mold image leak comes from Nowhereelse.fr that gives quite a clear picture of the mold with iPhone 4S placed next to it for size comparison. On a comparative calculation for size for the new device a result somewhere close to 4.7 inches comes that justifies the previous image leaks.
In contrast to previous reports regarding a thinner shape, this mold shows a tapered design for the back. But as per Nowhereelse.fr the mold is not complete and some additional parts are missing from the base.
Some of the holes that were drilled into the block in fact serve to fix the inserts which will form a crude which is then machined housing (finishes) using a CNC milling machine. Thus, and assuming that my theory is correct, the dimensions of the box will be determined by the widest part and not the bottom of the mold.
In this assumption, I started to resize the photo to scale against me in reference to the size of the iPhone 4s. I then measured the dimensions of the widest part of the mold which is approximately 138mm long by 64mm wide.
Article author Steve also superimposed a resized photo of iPhone 5S to get an approximate size, which resulted in 12 cm or an exact 4.7 inches with a phone size of 138mm length and 64mm width. The confusing part still remains with the rear end that gives a size calculation of 123mm length and 58mm width, which is somewhat close to the dimensions of the iPhone 5S.
