Track Cycling Data And Get Fit With VeloPal For iPhone
So you are an outdoorsy person who loves to cycle in the fresh air. You ride for an hour, break a tremendous amount of sweat, and have a feeling that it was a good workout. But wouldn’t it be great if you could measure your speed, the amount of calories you burn and the distance you cover; just like at the gym? MatrixSoft – developers of Bike Gear Calculator – have created a fantastic new cycling App, VeloPal, for iPhone and iPad that allows you to do just that.
VeloPal turns your iPhone into a GPS device which tracks your ride as you cycle. The route is displayed on a map with all the milestones that you have achieved. Before you set off you can set a goal in terms of distance, time, calories, etc. The stopwatch interface keeps count of the distance travelled, the riding time, calories burnt and total ascent. VeloPal also has the ability to detect a stop (which can be turned off via the settings). At the end of the ride you can view a summary of your workout laid out by days, weeks, months and years. This data is also presented in various chart forms, three of which are already set up, and many more can be defined by you. A calendar interface shows you at a glance the workouts you have done in a month and the total figure for that month. VeloPal also keeps you motivated by rating your performance on a route by comparing it to your best/average/worst time, speed, etc. For an App that does so much it’s important to have good UI, and VeloPal doesn’t disappoint. The UI is highly intuitive and slick, allowing you to do almost everything in a few taps.
VeloPal would make you want to go out and get on a bike or even just a pair of Rollerblades. VeloPal is a must have App for anyone who loves to exercise and doesn’t want to be cooped up in a gym. So if you’re a keen cyclist or just someone looking to kick-start their exercise regime go on the App Store and download VeloPal for free.
