Samsung Announces Galaxy Tab 3 Kids Tablet, Pricing Unknown
With the announcement of the Galaxy Tab 3 Kids tablet, Samsung has created a whole new category in the tablets market specifically for kids.
The tablet will come pre-loaded with kids’ based Apps and Games, a kids’ App Store, as well as a plethora of parental control settings, such as whitelisting capabilities, time management features, password protection and more. Samsung will also be releasing a case for the device for extra grip, and a ‘C Pen’ stylus for drawing.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids’ tablet will be arriving in Korea first, next month, before its widespread release in China, Europe, U.S., Africa, South America and South East Asia.
As for hardware and software specifications, the device will sport a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, a 7 inch 1080X600, a rear and front camera, and 8GB of internal storage expandable by SD Card up to 32 GB. As for software, it will be running on Android JellyBean 4.1, with a custom skin built by Samsung, specially for the device.
The device is faced with a lot of competition from other kids’ tablets, by companies like Leapfrog and Toys R Us.
For kid tablets, the key to success is the price. Since the device will be used by just the kids rather than the whole family, most parents won’t buy it if it costs too much, generally more than $200.
As of now, Samsung hasn’t revealed details on pricing.
