A new story coming in from Reuters mentions that Google is planning to refresh its Nexus 7 tablet this Summer and will likely drop the price to $149. Two unnamed sources also mentioned that Google is aiming towards shipping 6 to 8 million tablets in the second half of the year.
The upcoming version of the Nexus 7 will get hardware improvements, a thinner bezel design and a higher screen resolution. Google is still deciding on the pricing, but sources reveal that the company is planning to drop the price from $199 to $149. Due to “power reasons”, Google finally decided to go for Qualcomm instead of Nvidia.
As most of Google’s revenue comes in from advertising, all Google wants to do is sell as many Android devices as possible to expose more and more people to using the search engine on a daily basis.
