Apple’s Town Hall Meeting – Tim Cook Talks About Share Price, Android, China and More
Apple recently held a meeting at the auditorium of De Anza 3 in Cupertino to congratulate employees after reporting “another record-setting quarter”. Tim Cook wanted to basically motivate employees and wanted to provide a whole new source of inspiration. During the meeting, Tim Cook discussed about stocks, Android, retail, China, employee perks and supply chain.
Tim Cook did acknowledge the stock price and kept focusing that Apple “just had the best quarter of any technology company ever.” In his regular format, Cook mentioned that the stock price does not matter much and what matters is making innovative products that customers love.
For employees, Apple announced a better Employee Purchase Program (EPP) program whereby Apple employees now get additional discounts for unlocked iPhones and other products.
Following up with the departure of John Browett last year, Apple also announced that the search for the next retail head is still going on.
Cook also commented on Android. He mentioned that Google’s mobile platform is “about market share with its range of devices and low pricing, while iPhone and iPad products are about experience, top hardware and software quality, and, most importantly, actual usage by customers.”
Tim Cook also understands the importance of China and particularly said that sales in China have clearly exceeded sales in US. Tim foresees China to be the largest market for Apple.
