Sony Announces Socially Connected Xperia Miro

Xperia MiroAs you may know, Sony had a countdown timer on their site, and when it reached zero, they were supposed to announce something new. But, like us, Sony couldn’t hold onto it much longer, and made the countdown timer tick to zero, about a week before it should have, and what they announced, isn’t something which you might consider really special.

Yep, its another Xperia, but this time, it is steeped towards social networking, and is called the ‘Xperia Miro,’ guess Sony needs to start following the ‘Hero Strategy’ that HTC did.

It was originally unvieled on the manufacturer’s Facebook page (considering it is a social phone). In terms of hardware and specs, it might remind you of the ‘Xperia Sola’ revealed a while back, but this is much smaller, with a 3.5″ screen and a 5 MegaPixel camera at the back.

Thats all we know right now, but it wouldn’t take a genius to figure out that under the hood, it has probably got a 1-1.2 GHz Dual Core Processor, and probably 512MB of RAM, probably because it is not meant for gaming or other strenuous activities, but is designed for the Social addict, who should be satisfied with these specs.

As for the software, its got Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwhich, with Sony’s own Android UI on top of it. It also apparently has much better ‘Facebook inside Xperia’ than previous Xperia phones, atleast thats what the promo leads us to think.

If you really think this is the one for you, we’ve got a couple of photos of it, and its video from Sony’s Facebook page.

Naturally, we’ll keep you updated if we get to know more on this.

So what do you think? Do you like it? Or are you going to pass? Sound off in the comments below:
