iPad 3 Will Sport A5X, Not A6
The next generation processor that will be powering the iPad 3 is not going to be dubbed as “A6″ but instead “A5X” suggesting a minor upgrade to the current “A5″ processor line which powers iPhone 4S and iPad 2. According to a leaked image on a Chinese website called “WePhone”, the logic board of the iPad 3 has been captured and it clearly sports an A5X chip along with 16GB flash memory chips.
It is also rumored that A5X will be quad core and not dual core which is what the A5 has. Also, BGR has already reported the part number of the iPad 3′s processor is S5L8945X. The part number for A4 and A5 are S5L8930X and S5L8940X respectively which indicates only a minor update.
