We have been waiting for Siri on our older iOS devices, right? Well, at last we have it (somewhat). Thanks to Grant Paul, who is known as @chpwn in the Jailbreak community. The Jailbreak tweak, known as Spire does not come without its disadvantages though, you still need an iPhone 4S to forward the data on too, so the 4S can provide an authenication key to communicate succesfully with Apple’s servers. This still leaves most iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad and iPod touch users wanting to port Siri on thier device out of the picture.
If you do happen to have a 4S and want Siri on an older iDevice, you can find instructions to setting up a SiriProxy, which you will need for Spire to work on an iOS device, right here.
Steven Troughton-Smith, who triggered most of the work on the Siri port, told 9to5Mac “Until the iPhone 4S is jailbroken, this is the best Siri port. When the iPhone 4S is jailbroken, then we can avoid the proxy server issues.”
If you want to install Spire on your iPhone 4, 3GS , iPad 1, iPod Touch 3rd or 4th Generation, you can download and install it from the Cydia store.
