Apple is now ready to replace first-gen iPod nanos due to an overheating risk. Only devices sold between September 2005 and December 2006 are eligible for this replacement offer by Apple.
“This issue has been traced to a single battery supplier that produced batteries with a manufacturing defect. While the possibility of an incident is rare, the likelihood increases as the battery ages,” Apple said in its Web site.
Apple recommends all first-gen users to stop using the device and follow the instructions mentioned on its website to order a replacement. Apple may take upto six weeks to deliver your new device for free. Apple is already recognized as the company that offers world-class support, and this move even strengthens their position.
