Gartner Says the iPad Will Rule Tablet Market Till 2015

Android based tablets have been released many times, telling their customers to wait till next year, but they have always failed to win against the revolutionary and innovative iPad. And now, Gartner, the research giant, looked at this issue and gave the advice to Android fans and customers to keep waiting, as they claim that the iPad will be the most popular tablet all the way till 2015.

According to Gartner, Apple will sell around 148 million iPads out of the estimated total of 326 million tablets sold worldwide by 2015. Whereas Android-powered tablet sales are expected to be around 116 million in four years. Gartner announced the following on Thursday,

“We expect Apple to maintain a market share lead throughout our forecast period by commanding more than 50 percent of the market until 2014.”

While Apple is considered to be #1, followed by Android at #2, the new Windows 8 based tablets may give Microsoft sales of around 34 million in 2015. Though Microsoft is apparently going to go from 0 sales this year to over 4.3 million in 2012, the interest in the new OS could diminish “if Microsoft’s push to use the new OS across devices comes at a compromise in usability,” Gartner said.

Gartner’s belief that RIM could see 6 million QNX-powered tablets in 2012 increase to 26 million by 2015 comes as surprise to many of us.
