After completely redesigning its search engine, and launching an all new social network, Google+, Google is also testing a new redesign for Gmail, its incredibly popular email client. The all new design now appears similar to the redesigned Google.com, and features a neat and attractive look. There is now much more white space between consecutive emails, and the order in which icons are arranged looks much more intimate.
Even you can apply these new changes to your Gmail account by following the below steps.
1. Hit the “Settings” tab on the top right corner of your Gmail screen.
2. Go to the Themes tab
3. Hit the all new “Preview” or “Preview Dense” themes to activate the all new look.
The dense version will give you a compact Gmail inbox with less spacing between different items.
Over the years, adding countless features to Gmail has made it an increasingly powerful communication hub, but along the way the interface has also become more cluttered and complex.
That’s one of the reasons we’re embarking on a series of interface updates to help strip out unnecessary clutter and make Gmail as beautiful as it is powerful. This is part of a Google-wide effort to bring you an experience that’s more focused, elastic, and effortless across all of our products. The changes are not going to happen all at once. We know that you love and care about Gmail as much as we do, and we’ll be working on these upgrades gradually over the next few months to allow plenty of time to understand and incorporate your feedback into the evolving design.
Just like Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Reader also sport an exciting new look.
