Apple has released a new firmware update for all Macs running 10.6.8 and with Thunderbolt ports. Thunderbolt is a new I/O technology that has been implemented by Apple in most Macs that promises faster data transfer. As Apple and Intel are just getting started with Thunderbolt, there are a few bugs that needed attention.
With this update, Apple has fixed most bugs, and has improved the performance of the technology. The update is for the latest iMac lines, and the latest MacBook Pro which include the Thunderbolt port. To update, you’ve got to fire up Software Update from the Apple menu or you can get it from the website. The update is a small 500KB manual download, and after downloading your system needs to be restarted in order for the update to be applied perfectly.
Apple is also said to release new MacBook Airs which would include Thunderbolt ports.
