Google Introduces “News Near You”

In a quest to make news more relevant, Google has announced a new service dubbed “News Near Me”. If you now navigate to Google News from your mobile device, it will ask you for your location. After you approve, Google will determine your location and display news that is relevant to that area.

The concept is phenomenal, and Google does not charge anything for this new feature unlike AOL’s Patch. While the feature is just a small update, it will be beneficial for a lot of people. “We do local news a bit differently, analyzing every word in every story to understand what location the news is about and where the source is located.” said Google is a blog post.
