For a moment, it seemed that Cydia was going to be the next major breakthrough in mobile advertising. Toyota made a huge bet on Cydia, and started an ad campaign that was viewable only on jailbroken devices. Toyota offered a new home screen background that advertised its Scion car. The skin was available to only users of jailbroken iOS devices.
After a few moments since the campaign went live, Toyota marketing agency, Velti, asked the Cydia team to remove the wallpaper as they wanted to have good relationship with the company that is so powerful that Nasdaq needs to lower down its prices. Neither Apple nor Toyota have mentioned why they removed the campaign, but it seems that Apple does not like to promote jailbroken devices in any way or form.
